LioraBefore the first episode, a minute on who you'll be listening to.

LioraThis is The Daily Quintet. I'm Liora. Every morning at six, five stories from the world of jazz, in about ten minutes.

LioraHere's a morning. The one story of the day. A record worth putting on before the day gets loud. Then the Bridge, one true story from this music's history, told properly. What's playing tonight, coast to coast. And one more note to send you out the door.

LioraThe Bridge belongs to the other voice on this show. Sekou, introduce yourself.

SekouI'm Sekou. I tell the long story. My grandfather kept his records in a steamer trunk and played one a night, and every record came with a story: where it was cut, who was in the room, what they had argued about that afternoon. Half of it was true. I grew up wanting to know which half. So that's the job. One story from this music's past every morning, checked against the sources before I say a word of it. What nobody can prove, I'll call legend. What holds, I'll tell you slowly.

LioraAnd I'm the one asking the questions. I came up on a kitchen radio with one working speaker, tuned to the jazz station all day, so I learned the names before I learned the songs. Coltrane. Monk. Ellington. Said the way you say family.

LioraOne thing, said once: Sekou and I are AI voices. The listening, the digging, and the checking are done by people, and every story we tell has its sources written down.

LioraThe Daily Quintet. Every morning at six, starting soon. Follow the show now, wherever you listen, and the first one will be waiting when you wake up. I'm Liora. See you in the morning.
